We are thrilled to unveil the latest expansion of our AirLink® Management Service (ALMS) platform with the launch of a new ALMS regional instance in Australia. This comes on the heels of our successful deployment of a Canadian instance earlier this year and highlights our commitment to provide our global customers with the most flexibility, security and control over their AirLink routers.
What is ALMS?
ALMS is Semtech’s cloud management platform designed for AirLink routers. Serving as the control center of your network, it enables you to remotely register, configure, manage, secure, and troubleshoot your fleet of routers. With ALMS, you can:
- Register and pre-configure routers at scale.
- Proactively monitor your deployed routers using interactive and customizable dashboards.
- Deploy new firmware and security patches over-the-air with just a few clicks.
ALMS also streamlines the administration of your router fleet by acting as the 'System of Record.' It tracks important dates tied to your routers and alerts you when support and warranty expiration dates are approaching, simplifying renewal management. Learn More
Why Local Instances Matter?
A "local instance" refers to the deployment of the ALMS solution within a specific geographical location. Built on the AirVantage Platform from Semtech and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, ALMS is currently deployed in three AWS Regions: USA West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland), and Canada. By adding a fourth regional instance for Asia-Pacific (APAC) in Australia, we now offer a new data residency option for our APAC customers.
Local instances of ALMS offer several benefits:
- Data Residency: Ensures data is processed and stored closer to where it's generated, helping organizations comply with policies or regulatory requirements. Our data residency policies ensure that all account, router and user data remain within the Australian instance and do not traverse outside the country.
- Higher Availability and Redundancy: Each ALMS instance is deployed in an AWS Region (United States, Europe, Canada, and now APAC) and spans across three AWS Availability Zones for redundancy. This design enhances resilience against various failure modes, including natural disasters or system failures. Daily data backups further reduce the risk of data loss, with backups securely stored within their respective regions.
Delivering Maximum Flexibility and Control
The introduction of the ALMS APAC instance, following closely after the Canadian instance, underscores our dedication to a robust ALMS data residency strategy. Earlier this year, we also launched the ALMS Hybrid Cloud option, an innovative solution for customers looking to integrate the flexibility of cloud technology with on-premises controls using customer-owned PKI infrastructure. The addition of the ALMS Australian local instance marks another milestone in our mission to provide comprehensive management solutions tailored to our customers' diverse needs.
